Opening Lap Fall Cuts Indonesian GP Short 💔

Hi everyone,

A really disappointing end to our Indonesian GP, we made it to turn three in the Feature Race and that was all she wrote unfortunately after a fall - apologies to the boys caught up in the crash and to the team.

I enjoy this leg of the season, being on this side of the world and catching up with the fans who show up in droves for our races - the reception in Lombok was no different, and it’s special to see just how many people are into what we do.

Started off decent when we hit the track, this circuit has super low grip conditions which make mistakes easy to make, especially when you’re on a fast lap. Nevertheless, we continued to push hard and felt as though if we could put together a tidy lap that Q2 was possible.

Not the best qualifying session in the end after lacking a bit of speed, which put us on the back foot for the Sprint Race. I felt like we made the most of what we had in that one, and put together a solid race to come home in 11th place. 

Feature Race, well, again, not too much to say about that one. Got off to a good start and threaded the needle in turns one and two, made some spots and was in the battle with Viñales, who held a pretty tight line into three.

I didn’t anticipate that, and grabbed a bit of front brake to avoid him which just put it down and again, that was all she wrote. A racing incident, just one of those things that happen when you're juggling a million other things at that speed, but again apologies to the boys caught up in the mess.

That’s never my intention, although all we can do is shift focus to Japan and continue to improve from here.
